Les Allues and Méribel Links
Les Allues is a small traditional and picturesque village at 1100m.
The village is part of the world's largest ski area, Les Trois Vallees, Savoie. Connected by a gondola lift from Brides Les Bains below to Méribel above.
Les Allues is the choice of many
returning skiers. It is more peaceful and French than Méribel, but still
provides a good variety of services and facilities. In Les Allues there is a
church, library, museum, newsagent, small but good supermarket and a ski rental
shop. There are four restaurants and the ever-popular La Tsaretta bar.

La Tsaretta restaurant and bar - Tel: 04 79 08 61 00 A la carte restaurant upstairs. Downstairs is a lively bar with fresh pizzas baked to order. Unfortunately no longer sells locally brewed Tarentaise Best Bitter and Stout. Like most French bars the recent no smoking regulations have been ignored. Can be very unpleasantly smoky. Vegetarian Food in Three Valleys
I am always surprised by how many vegetarians I meet while skiing in France, but the French Alps are not the best place for vegetarian food. Most will accommodate if ask politely. It would be good if they were to understand and try to provide more for us! Here are a few places where I have found 'vegetarian' food worth eating. Note that it may not be strictly vegetarian e.g. cheese is unlikely to be made with veg rennet. Unfortunately most prepared salads contain meats. If you have any recommendations please let me know. On the hill
Le Chardon Bleu, St Martin de Belleville Tel: 04 79 08 95 36 (between bubble and chair, the one on the left as look up hill). Serve very good cheese omelets.
Brasserie L'ours Blanc, Courchevel 1650. Very good fresh pizzas. Mine was vast with people stopping to look. Perhaps larger than usual as next to entrance!
Off the hill
La Tsaretta restaurant and bar, Les Allues - Tel: 04 79 08 61 00. At least one vegetarian option on a la carte menu. Good pizzas in bar. No veg bar snacks listed but veg nachos are normally available on request.
Self catering
The best supermarket for veg food in Moutiers is #####. Soya yogurts are quite widely available but not yet found fresh soya milk.
ChaletFood who deliver groceries and drink offer a vegetarian pack.
Catered chalets
Most holiday companies will cater for vegetarians and special diets. Be warned that this does give the staff extra work. We are frequently referred to as vege-pests! Veggie Snow organises a vegan not-for-profit ski trip once a year. Have a good Catering for Veggies in the Snows section for chalet hosts.
