Leamington Lift Bridge

1940s
1940s view looking NE showing Lochrin Basin. Leamington Lift Bridge can be seen in the lower left. On the North side of the Union Canal is the American owned vulcanised India rubber factory, the first factory of it's kind in Europe. The middle building was originally a silk mill. The rubber factory closed in the late 1960s and demolished. The site was redeveloped by Scottish and Newcastle Breweries as part of the Fountain Brewery.
